Haemophysalis longicornis (bush tick) - dorsal surface - has festoons, no eyes, anal groove behind anus, short mouth parts with palps enlarged laterally with large backward-pointing tooth like projection. Mostly on cattle occasionally on humans. Measurements are vital for id of parasites. Ticks should be fixed and stored in 70 percent alcohol, cleaned with Decon 90 and examined with a stereo microscope.
